Kitties!

Rupert, the Mighty Lizard Hunter here.

After endless hours of watching and stalking, I caught me a George...and attracted an entourage, which was well behaved--for once.

Well, except for Mommy and her running commentary:

or click HERE

As if eating a lizard is gross--it's not--they are delicious!  So good, in fact, it stayed down.  Now that's a mark of a most truly excellent snack, no?

Happy Monday!

Crunchy Caturday

Kitties!

 Maui here.

In my quest to regrow the healthiest, most luxuriant winter coat possible I've decided to eat as healthily as a Housecat can--and we all know that eating a Raw Diet is the best--so I caught a nice fat George (lizard) and ate him.

Mommy spotted me enjoying my catch only after I had eaten the tastiest and loudest bits (BRANES, mmmmm) but she managed to get me chowing down on the last half of the lizard.

Turn up the sound and you'll hear me munchin' and crunchin'!

!!WARNING!!
The following footage contains scenes of carnage and bone-crunching.
***May not be suitable for Squeamish Humans***

Kitties, these things are delicious.  I could eat six or nine or elebenty every day, if I could catch 'em.  Mommy doesn't mind too much either; they agree with me and almost always stay down, an important consideration when trying to achieve optimal nutrition.

Hope your peeps weren't too grossed out, I'm just doing what cats naturally do.

Happy Caturday!

Our Front Yard George

Kitties!

We have a different type of George living in our front yard.
He's a collared lizard

We don't know if this variety is tasty or not...

...but he sure looks well fed.

Whoops.
Maybe he didn't like us implying he was "hefty"...MOL!

Happy Thursday!

Hello, Jorge!

Kitties!

We have a new lizard at Casa del Gatos:

Meet Jorge!

(pronounced HORE-hay...and roll the "r"!)

He (or she?) is a Sceloporus Magister, or a Desert Spiny Lizard.  if you embiggen the photo you can see that there are POINTS on the end of his scales!

Obviously, this sort of lizard needs to be eaten head-first.

Jorge (or Jorgina) is living in the front entryway, and we like to observe him out the windows by the door, contemplating his tasty demise.  Or not...Daddy says this guy would be far too quick for even The Baby!  We have the numbers though, and if Jorge ever strays into the back yard...well, we'll be calling him dinner.  In any language.

Hmmmm. We wonder if Jorge is muy caliente?

Reptilian Caturday

Kitties!

Mommy did some petsitting two weeks ago...and they were two unusual pets!

The first one (not actually pictured because he never came out of his burrow) was a Desert Tortoise:
"Stunt Tortoise"
He got dandelion greens and chard, and a couple of tomatoes, too, to eat.

The second pet Mommy cared for was a Bearded Dragon!
We'll call him Big George.
And he is pretty big...his body is nearly a foot long, and then there's the tail!  Not even Maui (a champeen lizard-eater if there ever was one) would be able to get Big George down all in one go.

Mommy was amazed at how friendly Big George was.  As soon as she came in the room he'd start zooming around his cage, all excited (he gets to go out when his owner is home and wander around the house) and he enjoyed being handled and stroked.

Even more than that, though--he likes his DINNER!  He gets a tube full of big juicy crickets every day.  Can you see his tongue?  He chases the crickets around and eats 'em all up...and he is fast!  A dozen crickets go down the hatch in just a few minutes.  Mommy had to buy more crickets at the pet store mid-way through the week, and she cracked up, ordering 100 large crickets from the sales lady.

As for us, we are rather miffed that Big George didn't get to "stay" at our house...

Happy Caturday!

Monday Mosey

Kitties!

Who's behind the cypress tree?

Whoever it is, they're moving...

...quickly!

Well, hello!
It is I, The Baby.
But you already guessed that, didn't you?
I was outside inspecting the yard for Georges--they often rustle around in the rocks back here between the cypress and the wall.  Mommy of course was taking photos.

This photo came out a little fuzzed but we both liked the way my pretty whiskers made a fan so I said it was OK to use.

In this shot I'm ignoring her pleadings to look at her.
 I can't seeeeeeee you!
And that was that.

Happy Monday!

Mancat Monday, or: Gorging on George

Kitties!

Maui here, and Victory Is Mine.
Do you see the delicious, slithery tail betwixt mine and CC's heads?  By my whiskers?
It's a George!
My Most Excellent sisser The Baby rustled him up out of the rock pile and chased him onto the Catio.*

Where I got** him!
My mighty manly growling kept the rest of my furblings at bay...

...so I was able to dine in peace.

At first I wasn't too sure about the flavor, but that only lasted a moment, and then George was:

Down The Hatch!
(Where, to my amazement, he stayed--ed.)

Happy Monday!

*The Baby does NOT eat lizards, the thrill for her is in the hunt.

The George Returneth

Kitties!

The Baby here.
I'm sorry that I can't give you my Full Attention right now, but I just saw my first George, a.k.a. LIZARD, of the season!

He skittered across the yard, only to disappear under these rocks, where I can hear him, doing Lizardly Things.  Rustling.  Teasing me.
That's OK George...I'm, patient.
I have all summer to exact my revenge on you, and your scaly, tasty, brethren.

Happy Saurian Saturday!

Flying Friends Friday

Kitties!

Lizard Season is drawing to a close.
Alas, poor Georgeic, I knew him well.
We had great sport with each and every lizard.
He's under the chair...
Even though SOME parties were disinterested.
I am not amused.
However, Ceiling Cat never closes a door that he opens a window; the DAMSELFLIES have arrived!
TaaDaa!
They tease us endlessly...
I'm grinning at you Cats evilly.
 ...flitting from flower to flower...
la de da da daaaa...

...they are utterly captivating to watch!

Lantana is lovely!

And watch them we do.

Soon, Mr. Damselfly, soon.
And wait.

Happy Friday!

A Little Friday Fun!

Kitties!

CC here.
Contrary to what you think, I am Not Pooping!
Or Peeing.
Or getting ready to roll in the sand.

 I am Not Covering!

I'm playing with Miniature George (MG)!

The Baby caught MG while she was nosing around Outside (yes she's Allowed Out again--Daddy is a HUGE push-over) and she deposited him right next to the Catio where I was able to capture his attention as well as his body and transport him to my favorite playing arena...the litterpoolbox!

Then guess what happened.  Daddy rescued MG!
He was still totally "viable" so he was released back to the garden, perchance to be eaten played with another day.

Happy Friday!

George comes INSIDE!

Kitties!

Sweet Pea here, in the laundry room.
Earlier I was out on the Catio and George was out there too--and guess what?  He came inside with me!  Not that he had much choice clamped between my teeth, but still.  I let him go so we could play a little and he ran like the dickens and hid under the dryer.

Daddy saw it all happen.

Mommy was at the grocery store, and Daddy called her and asked how soon she'd be home because we needed another person to play hide-n-seek with George.

Mommy laughed and said she was on her way!
And she was home in just a few minutes...I didn't even have time for a nap...not that I felt like sleeping or anything.

Daddy moved the washer and dryer, et Voila, George was REVEALED!

Mommy, you need to clean behind stuff a leetle more often.  George could get disease lurking back there.

Then, Mommy scooted her bum around the dryer, and snatched George up!  He was a pretty big George; about a foot long including his tail, which I Did Not have a chance to make fall off and play with.  In fact, George was totally intact, so Mommy let me smell him (so I didn't camp by the dryer for the next 374 hours) and released him outside.

It was all pretty exhausting.

Happy Friday!

Pee Ess:  If any of you kitties do bring in half dedded things and your Mom or Dad has to finish them off, our Mommy puts our trophies in a plastic bag in the freezer.  It's quick, and, Mommy hopes, painless.
And it beats the shovel technique.
